Dr. Uladzislau Belavusau gave a lecture at the Ghent University (Belgium)

On 21 March 2024, Dr. Uladzislau Belavusau, the head of the Dutch MEMOCRACY team, gave a public guest lecture on memory politics in Belarus. The lecture was dedicated to ‘Historical Imagery and Mnemonic Constitutionalism: the Case of Belarus in the Context of the Russo-Ukrainian War’. It highlighted constitutional law and memory politics in Belarus.

Dr. Alina Cherviatsova from the Human Rights Center at Ghent University acted as a moderator of this event. The lecture was organized by the Ukraine-plus Knowledge Center and Marie Skłodowska-Curie research project “To Destroy or to Preserve? Monuments, Law and Democracy in Europe” (MELoDYE), in the framework of the Eureast Platform in Ghent.
